Sleep is often one of the most common things that eludes us when living with chronic illnesses. When we actually want to sleep at night, we can’t, usually due to things like pain or insomnia. It’s hard to struggle with, especially when you need to be awake during the day. Now, while blue light from your cell phone is something you don’t want to be looking at before bedtime. But, there are quick little apps that you can turn on before you go to sleep that can help you create a calm and relaxing atmosphere with soothing sounds. Here are our top eight sound machine apps for better sleep.
Atmosphere
I discovered this application not too long ago, but I can tell you with full confidence that it helps me relax into my fluffy body pillow at night and, while troubles and cares don’t necessarily float away like they do in cartoons or books, they sure feel a little lessened by the sounds.
The fun thing that I found really interesting about this app is that you have a variety of over 100 different sounds, with everything from beach waves, to city sounds, to binaural beats! One thing I love to do is mix three different sounds together. It lulls me to sleep, and if I wake back up, I hear it and I fall right back asleep. This is my number one recommendation. All nature sounds are free on the app! The only thing you can pay for if you want it, is certain binaural beats patterns! But I use the nature sounds! Check it out or download using the links below!
Medito
The number one thing that I love about Medito? It is completely free. Totally free. 100% free. Their company philosophy is “Made for people, not for profit.” I think that is beautiful. Their app features all kinds of guided meditations, even those for sleep. There are also soundscapes that can fill the room with a calm and relaxing ambiance. Whether you want to visualize the beach, or the night sky, you can with this free app!
Healing Sounds & Sound Therapy
This application is unique. It offers up a variety of different ways that you can help yourself to relax. You can choose meditations and be taken away to a beautiful beach scene, or instrumental sounds. I highly recommend the Tibetan Singing Bowls! This app also features binaural beats that you can use for focus and more. The app itself is free with certain paid features. But a lot of the sounds are totally free. At the moment, I can only find it on the Google Play store.
Rain Sounds – Sleep & Relax
Many people find the sounds of rain relaxing. Perhaps you’d like to hear the sound of rain pattering a window. Maybe you’d like to listen to a storm? I’ve enjoyed this app for quite a while. My eleven-year-old son even loves using this one on his phone to go to sleep with. If you’re looking for high-quality rain sounds, this app is it.
ahhh deep sleep. you beauty. there is nothing like it. nothing more soothing n healing.
Valid points. If you struggle with getting a good night’s sleep, trying out sleep sound apps can be a game changer. With a variety of calming sounds and soothing meditations to choose from, these apps can help you relax and drift off to sleep more easily.
