Fall is here! September 1st marks the first day of meteorological fall, even if September 22nd is the date that most people consider actual “fall.” Either way, I am so excited about this upcoming season. It is one of my favorites. Here are 6 things to put on your fall bucket list so that you can enjoy this season with me:
Pumpkin shopping and carving
Gourds, mums, and apple cider – it just wouldn’t be fall without a trip to the pumpkin patch! Whether you’re there for the memories or to pick the best pumpkin for carving, this is one fall tradition you just can’t miss. If you’re looking for something even more extravagant to do with the family this year, check out one of the most amazing pumpkin displays around the country. Once you have the perfect pumpkin selected, hurry home to carve it. This is fun for everyone in the family. After, you can even roast the pumpkin seeds!
Closet clean out
Spring cleaning? Scratch that! It’s time for fall cleaning. You can do a full fall cleaning job yourself, or you could hire it out if you would prefer. Either way, get your house back in tip-top shape! One thing to focus on is your closet. Now is the time to pull out all of your cooler weather items, start washing them to give them a refresh, and swap them out with your spring and summer items in your closet. Before you put away all of your warm weather clothes, I need you to clean them out. How many of your items have you not worn in the past? I’m sure a lot of them! Take those items and donate them, or have a garage sale. Before you plan a drop-off, consider calling the store to double-check their drop-off policy hasn’t changed due to the pandemic. Do the same thing with your fall items, too. Before hanging them up, go through them and see what you can get rid of. Then, revamp your closet with things that you will wear, if you do need more items. You will thank me for this later!
Apple picking
Going to the pumpkin patch is about as “fall” as you can get, but a trip to a local apple orchard is also a must-do. Before you go, read up on the types of apples so you know exactly which ones to pick for all the irresistible apple desserts you’ll be making this season. Plus, orchards are usually a great place to snap a family pic so you can get the Christmas card photo checked off your list.
Help a neighbor rake leaves
I am all about doing acts of kindness this year, and this is one of the easiest ways to help someone out. Raking leaves is unfortunately a necessity in the fall, and it can be hard work. If you’re able, take on an elderly neighbor’s yard when you rake your own. They’re sure to appreciate it!
Backyard smores
I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite fun activities to do in the cooler weather months is to make smores! To do this, you’ll need a Monmouth county outdoor firepit and if you don’t already have one, Sabba’s Landscaping, Lawn, Pavers, and Fencing can help you out! They are a well-qualified company that honors itself on customer service, quality work, and reliability. Their mission is to always serve their clients to the best of their ability and to give them the best care. They can do it all when it comes to landscaping, lawn care, pavers, fencing, and more. They can help with outdoor kitchens, fire pits, snow plowing, retaining walls, and so much more. Plus, their reviews are amazing! They have 5-star reviews on Facebook and 4.4-star reviews on Google, so you can rest easy knowing that Sabba’s will take great care of you.
Plan your Thanksgiving menu
It might feel like Thanksgiving is still a long time away, but it’ll be here before we know it – and you’ll definitely want to have your turkey dinner planned out. Whether you’re making all the old classics this year or making a new dish, take a few minutes this month to plan out the menu and coordinate who will cook what.
